05.14.2008 - Sterilgarda defeated Milano
The first round of this year's finals for the national ch.'s shield has come.
The draw gave us the line-up ABC, Steff Mihaela (A), Qi Rong (B) and Nikoleta Stefanova (C) were chosen, whereas for the opponent team the coach Dobai chose Dodean (X), Zhang (Y) and Ding Yan (Z).
In the first match the challenge between the Rumanians, Steff and Dodean, ended 3-0 with no choice for the adversary to react to our player.
More exciting was the second round with Qi Rong facing Zhang: our athlete fought until the last game, lost 11 to 9, confirming the leading position of her adversary.
The next match gave us an important advantage: Ding Yan lost 3-1 against Niko, our novel Olimpic player.
Again was Steff the protagonist with the fourth match, winning against the Chinese rival and giving to our club the chance to gain the 12th shield, on Friday 16.
High-tension for the men team of Maurizio Errigo which played the first round of this year's national championship finals.
The opponents were the players of TT Pieve Emanuele, current Italian champions.
The match began at 19.00, with Li Kewei (A), Dodean (B) and Gigliotti (C) concerning the opposing team, Sun Jianfei (X), Roko Tosic (Y), Alberto Redini (Z) from our club.
A bad start for Sun Jianfei who could not win against Li and loosing so 3-1; this put the whole team at a psychological disadvantage.
Fortunately is the ability of Roko which permitted to gain a win, 3-0 against the young Dodean.
This even-steven lasted until Alberto was defeated by Gigliotti (ex player of Sterilgarda), 11-8 in the fifth and last game. Again, Tosic managed to conquer the standoff, winning 3-1 against Li Kewei and hand over Sun Jianfei the last decisive match.
Our Chinese was able to defeat Dodean 3-1 and to definitively close the match in out behalf, with a 3-2 score.
